شمیم محمود  گزشتہ دو، ڈھائی دہائیوں سے ڈیجیٹل میڈیا کی وجہ سے بہت سی تبدیلیاں رونما ہوئی ہیں۔پرنٹ اور الیکٹرونک میڈیا کی شکل یکسر تبدیل ہوگئی ہے۔ ”بریکنگ نیوز“  اور ”سب سے پہلے“ خبر بریک کرنا کا معیار تبدیل ہوگیا ہے۔ صحافیوں کے کام کرنے کے انداز اور دیگر ذرائع تبدیل ہوگئے ہیں۔ یوٹیوب پر نت نئے پروگرامز کے ذریعے پیسے کمانے کی دوڑ تیز ہوگئی ہے۔ حالات حاضرہ اور سنجید ہ موضوعات کی نسبت چٹ پٹی خبروں اور طنز ومزاح کو ترجیح دی جاتی ہے۔لیکن گہماگہمی کے اس دور میں بھی ایسے لوگ موجود ہیں جو سنجیدہ کام کرکے اپنا کردار اد ا کرنا چاہتے ہیں۔ ہماری عمر کے لوگ جو بچپن میں صرف پی ٹی وی سے ہی واقف تھے اور سکول جانے سے پہلے چاچا تارڑ اور قرات العین کی گفتگو سنا کرتے اور چند منٹس کے کارٹون کے منتظر ہوتے تھے، ٹھیک اس دور میں پاکستان ٹیلی ویژن  پر اس وقت کے معروف ڈراموں اندھیرہ اجالا، ان کہی، دھوپ کنارے، تنہائیاں وغیرہ نشر ہوا کرتے تھے۔ غالباً یہ وہ دور تھا جب ڈرامہ سریل کی ہفتہ وار قسط نشر کی جاتی تھی۔ کہا جاتا ہے کہ اس ڈراموں کی نشریات کے دوران بازار خالی ہو جایا کرتے تھے۔ اس دور میں صرف ”پی...

Islamabad: The basic education system is not geared towards promoting knowledge but promoted exclusion on the basis of religion and intolerance, said the speakers at the conference held in Islamabad. A national conference was co-organized by the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) and Peoples’ Commission for Minorities Rights (PCMR) in a local hotel in Islamabad. By Muhammad Arshad Islamabad: The handbook is a product of concerted efforts of all police organisations and criminal investigation agencies of Pakistan who were assisted by prominent legal experts. The handbook was compiled under the leadership of DG NPB Syed Ejaz Hussain and DIG Saqib Sultan, Director NPB who steered the National Working Group on the Handbook of Criminal Investigation (comprising of experts from all police/criminal investigation agencies of Pakistan and leading lawyers). They played the pivotal role in the compilation of this first ever National reference book on the subject. The book is designed to standardise the quality of investigation across the country and to incorporate new case law and promote modern tools of investigation in police work. In the next stage the book will be translated into Urdu and regional languages. تنقید ہمیشہ ناقابل برداشت ہوتی ہے، چاہے تعمیری ہی کیوں نہ ہو۔ ہمارے ہاں تو ویسے ہی برداشت کی کمی ہے, دلائل کچھ بھی دے دیں لیکن حقیقت حال یہی ہیں۔ سوشل میڈیا پر ہماری مرضی کے خلاف کوئی ایک فقرہ لکھ دے تو ہم سے وہ برداشت نہیں ہوتا. فوراََ فضول بحث شروع کریں یا مخالف رائے رکھنے والے شخص کو بلاک کردیں گے۔ یہی حال ہمارے حکمرانوں کا ہے، میڈیا کی تنقید برداشت کرنے کی ہمت نہیں. اپنی خامیاں اور کمزوریاں دُور کرنے کی بجائے تنقید کرنے والے صحافیوں کے مخالف مہم چلانے کیلئے لاکھوں روپے خرچ کیے جاتے ہیں۔ یا پھر ادارے اوُچھے ہتھکنڈے استعمال کرتے ہیں۔سال 2020ء تو کرونا وائرس سے بچنے اورلڑنے میں گزر گیا اسی دوران حکومت اور اپوزیشن کی لڑائی بھی عروج پر رہی۔ لگے ہاتھوں اپوزیشن اتحاد نے اداروں کے کردار پر بھی کھل کر تنقید کی۔ نتیجاََ عام آدمی کے ذہن میں ریاستی اداروں کا کردار مشکوک نظر آنے لگا. اس دروان بین الاقوامی سطح پر ہونے والی تبدیلیوں پر کوئی خاص دھیان نہ دیا۔ یوں تو نئے اتحاد بنانے کی باتیں ہوتی رہیں اور کچھ نئے محاذ بھی کھولے گئے البتہ پاکستان کا ایک دیرینہ مسئلہ جو آزادی سے لیکر چلا آرہا ہے ج...

Islamabad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs offers its deepest condolences over the sad demise of senior and seasoned journalist, Tariq Mahmood Malik, who covered the Foreign Office for over two decades with great distinction. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the departed soul, his family and friends.  Mr. Tariq Mahmood’s death is an irreparable loss to the media and journalists’ fraternity. He will be missed profoundly by his friends and colleagues, including in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as millions of his viewers and followers. It is to remember that FO has postponed the scheduled press briefing as a mark of respect.

H E Ali Alizada - the Ambassador of Azerbaijan Islamabad: Over the past years, both sides Pakistan and Azerbaijan agreed to improve the economic ties to the next level of the current trade volume. So Azerbaijan has massive potential and will to introduce non-alcoholic drinks to Pakistan, said the envoy. Azerbaijan is keen to exports of new non-alcoholic products to Pakistan. At present, Azerbaijan export beverages to 27 countries and 18 types of alcoholic beverages and various juices to Russia and Ukraine. Speaking at an informal meeting with American-Pakistan businessman Mr. Momin Khan Durrani, the ambassador Alizada said that Azeri producers are keen on introducing new drinks to Pakistan as well as expanding the export of current products to foreign markets. شمیم محمود   دس دسمبر 1948ء کو جب اقوام متحدہ نے تیس بنیادی انسانی حقوق کی شناخت کرتے ہوئے اسے انسانی حقوق کا عالمی دن قرار دیا ۔ تو پاکستان ان 48  میں سے ہے جنہوںنے اسی دن اقوام متحدہ کی جنرل اسمبلی میں انسانی حقوق کے عالمی علامیہ کی حمایت میں ووٹ دیا تھا۔ اس وقت اقوام متحدہ کے رکن ممالک کی تعداد صرف 63 تھی جبکہ اس وقت رکن ممالک کی تعداد 193 ہے۔ اس کے باوجود دنیا کے متعدد ممالک میں اس کی پاسداری نہیں کی جاتی . رنگ، نسل ، جنس، مذہب، معاشی ، سیاسی اور معاشرتی بنیاد پر تعصب ہوتا ہے۔ اور مذہبی آزادی کے مسائل درپیش ہیں۔ ریاست متحدہ امریکہ نے 1998ء میں مذہبی آزادی کے واقعات کے پیش نظر بین الاقوامی مذہبی آزادی ایکٹ کے تحت ان ممالک کی فہرستیں مرتب کرنا شروع کیں جہاں بنیادی انسانی حقوق اور مذہبی آزادی کے مسائل موجود ہیں۔ رواں سال امریکہ کی جانب سے جاری کردہ رپورٹ میں پاکستان کو ان ممالک کی فہرست میں شامل کیا گیا ہے۔ جبکہ ہمسایہ ملک بھارت کو ایسی ہی صورتحال کے باوجود اس فہرست میں شامل نہیں کیا گیا ۔ اس لحاظ سے یہ پاکستان کی سفارتی ناکامی ہے۔ لیکن صورتحال کا بغور جائزہ لیا جائے تو حقائق...
