Clergy demand the removal of AG Sindh Talibuddin

 


Karachi (PR): Just few days after the press conference by the Clergy against the key ministers of the Sindh Cabinet for alleged ‘misuse of power’ the Church on Tuesday demanded the immediate removal of Salman Talibuddin – AG Sindh from his post.

The reaction from the key members of the Karachi Diocese and senior clergy in a separate statement. The Church of Pakistan (CoP) – Karachi Diocese ask the Chief Justice of Karachi High Court (KHC) to remove Advocate General (AG) Sindh as he reportedly found involved in misguiding the court and misusing his position.

According to the statement issued by the senior Clergy of the Karachi Diocese, the AG Sindh close involvement with land mafia who wants to usurp Church properties worth billions of dollars and to achieve their agenda. It is also said that the AG Sindh is misguiding the Honorable Court and maneuvering. Using his position, he is manipulating the Bishop’s election so that he could get monetary benefits.

It alleges millions of rupees’ irregularities in the Church funds and selling land.

Earlier, on Sunday, May 06, Senior Clergy of the CoP – Rev. Sarwar Eric and Revd. Shafiq Kanwal addressed a Press Conference, accused the Ruling Party, (Pakistan Peoples’ Party - PPP) key members namely Murtaza Wahab, Syed Nasir Shah, Syed Owais Shah and Minority MPA Anthony Naved to plant Bishop of Karachi and Baluchistan Diocese for their vested interest.

Since last several weeks, the Christians of the country especially from the Sindh province have been protesting against the unlawful involvement of Sindh Government using different ways to achieve their goal by all means.

We tried to reach Nasir Hussain Shah – Minister for Information for his comments but he did not respond neither replied to the text on WhatsApp.

It is to mention that the Article 140 of the Constitution of the Pakistan refrains Advocate General from indulging into personal or private practice, while Article 20 of the Constitution provides for ‘Freedom to profess religion and manage religious institutions and properties’, whereas in violation to the fundamental provisions of the Constitution the AG Sindh Salman Talibuddin.
