Bishop Azad Marshal elected new head of the Church of Pakistan
Lahore:
Bishop Dr. Azad Marshal – Bishop of Raiwind Diocese has been elected as
Moderator Church of Pakistan unanimously.
According to the statement Rt. Reverend Bishop Azad Marshal, Bishop of Raiwind Diocese has been elected as Moderator of Church of Pakistan. The synod (supreme body) of Church of Pakistan in its 16th triennial meeting held on 13-14 May, 2021 in Saint Thomas Church, Lahore.
Rev. Shahzad Gill - the Chaplain told that
the meeting was peacefully held and eight dioceses led by eight bishops
covering the whole country from Karachi to Peshawar.
Bishop
retired Alexander John Malik and Bishop Sadiq Daniel recently retired from
Karachi Diocese were also present in the meeting. Bishop Dr. Azad Marshal was unanimously
being elected as the Moderator of the Church of Pakistan.
Azad Marshal
is a Pakistani-born Anglican bishop and was sixth Bishop of the Anglican Church
in the Iran and the Middle East in the Anglican Communion since 2007. He passed
is bachelor degree from the University of the Punjab and studied at Romsey
House Theological College in Cambridge, England. He also holds the Masters of
Divinity Degree from Gujranwala Theological Seminary in Pakistan and the Master
of Theology degree from the London School of Theological.
The Church
of Pakistan is a united protestant Church in Pakistan, which is part of
Anglican Communion and a member of the World Communion of Reformed Churches and
the World Methodist Council.
