Pakistan welcomes the
ceasefire agreement between two countries
Baku – Islamabad: Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed on
cease-fire after almost two weeks of fierce fighting in Karabagh. The two sides
settled temporary truce with the goal of pausing combat long enough to collect
bodies from the battlefield and to exchange prisoners.
According to the statement issued by the embassy of
Azerbaijan in Islamabad the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov had
meeting with Armenia in Moscow with the mediation of the Russian Foreign
Minister. The Minister noted that a temporary truce had been declared between
Azerbaijan and Armenia for humanitarian purposes, and that the occupying
country had been given one last chance to negotiate and withdraw Armenian
troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
Referring to the principled position of Azerbaijan, Minister
Jeyhun Bayramov stressed the need to implement relevant UN Security Council
resolutions to ensure peace in the region.
Pakistan appreciated the ceasefire between Azerbaijan and
Armenia and said it is a positive development for peace and stability. Pakistan
hope that the humanitarian conditions agreed upon by the parties would be
honoured.
In a statement issued by Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry, the spokesperson
of the Foreign Office said that Pakistan believes that sustainable peace
between the two parties would depend on the complete and comprehensive
implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions and withdrawal of
Armenian forces from Azerbaijani territories. In this endeavour, Pakistan will
continue to stand by the brotherly nation of Azerbaijan.

Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Ali Alizade told that
Azerbaijan army liberated 34 villages, one town and a city from the Armenian occupied
forces during the two weeks war.
